The book opens with Joel Essen, a scruffy detective, witnessing an assassination of a renowned physicist. Going against his captain’s orders, he investigates the case. But in doing so, he opens Pandora box and learns of a nefarious plan to unleash hell on Earth. This new profound burden pushes the detective into action to go against a group of very powerful individuals.
As intriguing as the plot seems, it’s not the heart of the book’s mystery. It becomes rapidly clear that Joel Essen himself is very peculiar. He has his warts and inner demons from his past. A mystery that is slowly revealed throughout the book. The central theme of the book is that ‘no man is an island and no man stands alone’. Seeing that this book is a team up book, Essen will have to learn to trust and work with others. This is something he will especially struggle to come to terms with. In fact the other four main characters will have to learn to do the same. Every character has their own backstory that is perfectly intertwined into the main plot.
Two Steps From Hell is a very suspensive story and with each chapter, the readers are forced to the edge of their seats. Everything and everyone will be against their favourite protagonist and time will be of the utmost importance to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Dugzaw: This author is nothing short of a genius writer. They seemelessly write each chapter with exquisite detail and fluidity. The synopsis sucked me in and I just completed Chapter 1: Judas and I was hooked. I was visualizing the scene as I read.
I saw Detective Essen, Judas, the Pastor. I knew the chapter was too good to be true, that something horribly wrong was about to happen. And it did. It is a page-turner for sure because now Essen is in for a hellish awakening. A dark revelation perhaps.
Great work to the author. Just from the description of the Cathedral I know you are a prolific writer. I commend your work.
ciaraattong: An undeniable gem in the book universe. I appreciate how the author is taking the time to go in depth with each of the characters… some tend to focus mainly on the protagonist, but this story is very well formulated, well thought out, and gives readers the edge they need so they can relate intimately with the characters and develop relationships with them. Loving it. I’m also a sucker for fantastical and mysterious plots, so this is a winner for me! Great work.
Blesssing_Ewetumo: Mind. Officially. Blown. This book has just the right amount of mystery and suspense to leave you at the edge of your seat, biting your nails as you continue to read each chapter.
There are few thrillers and horror stories that can capture my interest, and this is one of the few that has. Can’t wait to read more, well done author.
Each plot was well constructed and arranged, the description paints a clear image, and your writing quality is perfect. I definitely recommend this book.
